PEAKALT / PRIVACY

Privacy Policy

Your journey belongs on your devices.

Scope and developer

This policy covers PeakAlt on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, including widgets, Live Activities and Picture in Picture. The service is maintained by the PeakAlt developer, who can be reached at the email address on this page for privacy and support questions.

Information processed on your devices

With your permission, the app reads location, coordinates, elevation, heading, pressure and motion sensors to show your surroundings and record your journey. Captured photos and videos, notes, poster settings and wellbeing selections are stored in the app on your device. There are no accounts, advertising, cross-app tracking, third-party analytics SDKs or online AI photo processing. Scenic illustrations are prepared in advance; your photos are not uploaded to generate backgrounds.

You control permissions

Location supports elevation, maps, place names and photo watermarks. Background location is requested when you enable journey recording or live elevation. Camera access is requested on the capture page; microphone access is requested for video recording. Photos access is add-only and used when you choose to save; the app does not read your photo library. Motion access supports elevation, pressure and orientation. You can revoke permissions in system Settings and still access help, settings and existing records.

Apple services and companion devices

Maps and reverse geocoding use Apple services, which may process location and network information needed to fulfill requests. Widgets, Live Activities and Picture in Picture display elevation, place and update time on your device; other people or screenshots may see them. iPhone and your paired Apple Watch exchange the latest reading and language through Apple WatchConnectivity. Watch prioritizes its own altimeter or location, with iPhone as a fallback. We operate no developer server receiving these journey records.

Saving, sharing and photo locations

Only when you choose Save or the system share sheet is selected content sent to Photos or your chosen destination. Watermarks and photo metadata may include capture coordinates, place and time, so check before sharing. Recipients and sharing apps have their own privacy practices. Photos and device backups may sync according to your Apple and iCloud settings.

Retention and deletion

Journey records and app-owned media remain until you delete them. Long-press a record in Journey to remove it, or use local data management in Settings to clear all journey records, app-owned photos, videos, wellbeing selections and the legacy migration copy. Clearing disables automatic recording; using location again or making new captures can create new data. Manage copies already in Photos, system backups or companion devices separately. The latest elevation cache supports widgets and is replaced by new readings. The developer cannot remotely access, restore or delete records on your device.

Support email and website visits

If you email support, we receive your email address and what you choose to provide, use it to handle your request, and delete information when it is no longer needed. Avoid sensitive photos or precise locations unless necessary to resolve your issue. This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages; the provider may process IP addresses and requests for delivery and security under its public privacy policy. This site has no advertising, analytics scripts, tracking cookies or feedback upload form.

Updates and contact

We update this policy and its date when features or data practices change. New permissions still require system authorization. Contact the PeakAlt developer at the email address below with privacy or data questions.
